I always figure out where a student is at, and prefer to grow off the student's strengths as opposed to harping on their weaknesses. I have been in lessons before where teachers couldn't get past the smallest details, and these ruined the experience for me, as well as greatly affected what I was able to accomplish in my lessons. It began with my grandmother teaching each of her children to play piano, and now they all play different instruments and family Christmas celebrations have a more orchestral feel to them. My mother began teaching elementary and high school music and choir when I was 11 years old, and now she's set to retire in two years.
