Instruments: Piano Voice
I use a diverse groups of methods that are designed to meet the needs of the individual student and that student's goals. It should be noted that correct technique is the thread that connects all types of music and musical style at all age levels. Read More
Instruments: Drums Latin Percussion
I like all types of music and am currently learning to produce music, play the piano and guitar. I am always up to date on new styles, bands, artists etc. I listen to music all day and plan on going to college for music. Currently I am a student at the University of Dallas Texas as a Computer Science Major. I love helping kids, and have even volunteered for 300+ hours with special needs kids. Read More
Instruments: Piano
Learning should be fun for everyone! My main question to beginning students is: Why do you want to learn to play the piano? I believe keeping my lesson plans in line with a student's particular passion for music is the key to success. For younger students, I like to use the Leila Fletcher piano books, unless they (or their parents) express a preference for another lesson series. For adults, the lesson books I prefer to use, if any, will vary by what the student wants out of their piano lessons. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute
I have been honored to teach and also prepare several students in my life. Some of them are today accomplished musicians, others are yet in music schools. For example I have 3 students already in Berklee and another student is in Juliard, NY. Other students, are non musicians wanting to learn saxophone and music. I always adapt my teaching style to their capacities and encourage then to move forward and develop their saxophone skills in order to achieve our mutual goal. Read More
Instruments: Piano Keyboard
I relocated to New York City in 1992 to major in music at Hunter College. Living in NYC I began performing live and became a studio session musician in the process I developed songwriting and arranging skills as well as my own composing style. As I advanced musically I began teaching piano, guitar and music theory at the Academy of Music. Teaching the basics of piano really helped me develop a love for exploring and learning music with students . Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I have been teaching since age 15 (1999). In addition to extensive performing experience on clarinet, I have functioned as a piano accompanist, choir member, and praise band member through the years. As noted above, I teach clarinet, saxophone, flute, and piano. My methods vary according to each individual students' needs and goals, however I try to find the approach that will best help a student to appreciate music in general, sharpen the mind, and give each student a level of skill on their instrument that provides a sense of accomplishment. Instruments: Trumpet
With consistent practice on both fundamentals and repertoire, I believe that anybody can learn how to play an instrument. Learning an instrument is like building your dream house. You start start by building a strong foundation through fundamentals and then by working over a period of time, your dream house will start to become a reality. My goal as a teacher is to help each of my students understand what they need to do to practice on their own in order to see improvement over time. Read More
