I will typically introduce my beginner students with some scales and etudes from Simandl's 30 etudes book. They start out rather simple, but throughout the book many concepts are introduced that are important for understanding how the bass works. As well Simandl Book one is a wonderful book to introduce the positions on the bass and has many helpful exercises inside. I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I have studied classical piano for 10+ years with the Field Studio, Myra K Garvette, and the Westport School of Music, as well as at Fairfield University. I also have chamber music ensemble experience, having gone to CAM Camp and working with piano trio and quartet ensembles under Millette Alexander. My teaching started in my undergrad, about 5 years ago when I was required to take a Vocal Pedagogy class as part of my major. From there I fell in love with teaching. I was able to expand on my love as a substitute teacher at Rabun Gap Academy in Rabun Gap Georgia in 2012. There I taught five girls ranging from 8-15. I continued that until 2014, I then took on two colleagues, a girl who was 24 at the time and a guy who was 19 and taught them for a year. Read More
