Hi, my name is Caroline, and I began playing at the age of 3, formal training at age 5, studying with professional pianists all the way through college. I am classically trained, and studied classical piano as well as Jazz in college and beyond. I enjoy learning and teaching all types of music, including composition and improvisation. I enjoy a varied performing repertoire, singing many recitals and much contemporary music, but also Mozart and nineteenth-century French and Italian opera. In the early years of my teaching profession I taught in various small Texas school districts. I taught in Houston ISD for over 25 years. I have taught PK fifth grade students throughout my career. I initiated a piano lab at my last school for second grade students. I employed creativity and fun in my mission to expose my students to the use of various percussion instruments. I will begin with the essentials of learning guitar, learn how to sit and hold the guitar, tune the guitar and play your first melodies! Learn how to read guitar tablature. learning to play single notes, beginner guitar chords, 4 essential strumming patterns, changing chords etc. After the basics are mastered we will move through playing lead guitar to improvising with C-A-G-E-D theory and playing advanced lead guitar licks. I have also studied with Yuri Bashmet at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena (Italy) who is one of the most famous soloists in the world of the Russian School of Viola.
