For beginning students, I start off with using Faber's set of collections and five finger positions. I keep the beginners on a regime of learning five finger position songs to build confidence and the ability to grasp the fundamentals. I teach simple techniques along with their five finger position songs such as scales and arpeggio. I have had the opportunity to learn from many musicians over the course of my musical career. I have gathered much practical music knowledge from University Professors to Street Corner Musicians. Applying that knowledge to my guitar playing has opened up many doors of opportunity and has made my life very interesting. I have performed professionally in various ensembles such as Mariachi, Tejano, Orchestra, and several guitar duets. The only styles I don't play or teach (that are popular) are screamo, death metal (no blast beats here), and jazz.
