In each flute lesson, I typically begin with a bow as respect for myself and the student. We typically start with tonalization warmup from Suzuki Book 1. The student listens and produces the best sound they can make after listening to me. My goal as a teacher is to help them become their own teacher and evaluate the things they can improve upon. If a student isn't having fun learning the instrument then I am doing something wrong! Learning should be fun and a joy not a chore. I try to encourage the students to practice without being told to do so. With that comes a joy of doing it on your own and for themselves not for anyone else. Later my first formal teaching job took place in Musicians Institute as Teacher's Assistant. I've been a member of the Los Angeles City College advisory board in 1999 and I've thought as a full time teacher at Istanbul Bilgi University Music Department from 2000 to 2008.
