I am a Taiwan-born pianist based in Maryland, USA. My commitment to music is driven by a passion of infinite potential in Collaborative Piano. I am committed to creating many events which combine various genres of art. The reason for this determination is because I believe there is a strong connection between different art forms, and I love the way that I am able to perform music with new ideas. Read More

I started out at the age of nine playing the trumpet, and continued this for two years before switching to piano. Ultimately, I found my love in playing the guitar, and took lessons for two years. As time went on, I advanced as a guitarist and actually expanded into new musical instruments. I began playing in local rock and r&b bands at the age of 15. These were some of my most influential experiences, as they expanded my musical tastes into jazz fusion, swing, standards and Latin Jazz. After graduating high school, I attended community college and then went to New York to study jazz theory, where I played a few sets with Sweetback in 2000 that led up to being asked to play with the band. My methods depend upon the student's level of ability. I also adapt to requirements that musical groups, such as a school band class, might have. While I have my own preferences for books, I am certainly happy to work with one that a school or other group requires. For beginning students, I start out with my own personal exercises that are designed to lay the groundwork for a trumpet player's range, endurance, and musicality. Read More

My teaching style at a high level is much like I approach most things. If you are having fun, sharing a joke or two while at the same time having direction and purpose then you can accomplish almost anything. I try to give as much feedback as possible without being judgmental or hyper critical. Music is to be enjoyed while at the same time treated with a certain amount of seriousness and dedication.
