Lately I've been teaching my little brother piano playing on the side when I go over to my parent's house, he is really enthusiastic about playing for me and asks many questions while aptly listening to me. I also help out a couple of my friends that either used to play the piano or are just interested in the instrument and need a primer to get them going. As technique improves, so will the sound. I work on intonation and a good bowing arm technique. I can play and they repeat. It helps that I can accompany on the piano if one is available, but if not, the students can listen to me play to help with intonation. Having access to the CDs allows the student to progress at his own speed with an always available accompaniment that makes things SO much easier than it is having to play all alone. Read More

All students will always have at least one piece that they have chosen to work on to keep interest while building skills. For adults I like to use Alfred's Basic Adult All-In-One Course. This has a site that can be accessed at home for extra help and accompaniments to play the songs learned. I add technique to adults to keep the fingers moving such as Hanon and Czerny. Adults usually know what they are interested in learning and I point their instruction towards their personal goals. Read More
