Learning a musical indtrument requires a high level of concentration to learn and understand the music, and to memorize and perform it, so it can be helpful for students with other learnings or activities. In order to keep my students motivated, I balance tasks that each student finds easy and enjoyable with tasks that are more challenging. My students know that if they say something is too hard, I will ask them to try it again another way, using their strategies to problem solve. Liz started playing the flute at the age of six. At a very early age she started formal musical training in her native home town of San Juan Puerto Rico and quickly developed great appreciation for music and arts. She was accepted in an arts specialized school where she was constantly exposed to private lessons, large ensembles and chamber music. If you are interested in a different method I will typically alter my teaching to accommodate. Early lessons typically work on establishing a strong technical foundation so the student will be able to pursue music that speaks to them. I have a great love of Jazz and the American Song Book.I attended Berklee School of Music and studied arranging and Jazz Composition and graduated magnum cum laude. After college I performed with bands throughout New England and at various venues and functions.
