For stringed instruments, I uses the Suzuki method for teaching the basic repertory of the instruments. This method is an ear training method in which the student plays by ear. It starts out very simple so students of all ages can learn and progress very quickly. The key to being successful in playing the piano is Practice. I always encourage my students to practice but also, it is very important for the Parent to take part in their child's learning. I assign homework weekly/bi-weekly depending on how often we meet for lessons.
