I sent my resume out to many places, and took my first college job in Riyadh. Saudi Arabia has very strict guidelines about what can be taught in the classroom and how teachers should conduct themselves. It takes a very flexible yet strong person while also finding ways to remain creative within strict guidelines to survive in this educational system. Here I learned the value of teamwork and critical feedback from my administration. Read More

I encourage progress over awards. It is vital that the singer be able to rely on their fundamental and progress at their own pace to be able to build healthy habits that will last for a lifetime of singing. I try to understand the goals and desires for all students to be able to help them reach that goal in a healthy progression. I am very challenging but singing if supposed to always be fun as well or there is no use in doing it every day. Read More

So my students were learning music from their favorite bands and what they wanted to learn. Read More

I generally do not teach directly from a book. I only use them as guides. I always felt that was the lazy way of doing things. A book doesn't know the student. I find that students of any age, learn and adapt to teaching in different ways and speeds. I start from the very bottom and we build every lesson, using previous lessons as building blocks. I take pride in teaching the way that works best for you or your child. Read More

My first contact with music was during my early childhood, when I took piano, guitar and violin lessons. Growing up, I was always active playing with several youth orchestras and various ensembles, ranging from classical to popular and folk music. I studied piano and composition at the California State University, Sacramento, where I had the opportunity to study with world class musicians and be part of cutting edge orchestras and choirs; during my college years I went on several tours with a choir, performing in venues such as Carnegie Hall, N.Y I currently perform as pianist and accompanist with Opera singers from the area, and also compose upon comissions. I try to make sure students can progress at their own pace based on their own skill level and experience with the instrument. I try to instill diligence patience and not being too hard on yourself as the top priorities. I want student and teacher interactions to be casual enjoyable and fun but at the same time serious with regards to the composer's intentions in the music. Like watering a flower it doesn't happen overnight the flower takes time to grow same with a piano student there needs to be incremental growth not overnight success. Read More
