Music is a passion of mine, and Im so thankful I have the opportunity to share it with others! In 2013 I graduated from Bryan College with a BS in Piano Performance. I was blessed with many performance opportunities during college, including piano recitals, musical showcases, accompanying performers and chamber ensemble music. Although I enjoy performing, teaching is my first passion. The bulk of my teaching experience comes from my college days where I taught secondary piano lessons to college undergraduates and children. My teaching style and methods were solidified in my graduate studies at Indiana University where I was an Associate Instructor of Piano. During this time, I taught group piano classes to music and non-music majors, private piano lessons to both graduate and undergraduate students, and worked as a counselor/practice coach for three summers at the prestigious piano summer festival Indiana University Piano Academy. For all students, our first meeting will be an assessment to figure out where to start! I typically have students begin by playing something they are comfortable with that they enjoy, and we go from there. I am comfortable teaching a variety of methods and like to help the student achieve their individual goals, whatever those may be. I do like to supplement most teaching method books with some kind of scale/etude regimen depending on the level, to round out their practice throughout the week between lessons. Read More

My teacing style is what I would call organized relaxed. I create specific goals for each student that are attainable. I continually work to encourage my students to work towards their goals. After carefully assessing each of my students, and determining whether or not he or she are beginners, intermediate or advanced, I start them in the lesson book that is according to the level they are at. I teach from Alfred's Piano Course, but if my student has a piano book already, it is not a problem to teach from that series. Once my student has progressed and has a strong understanding of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire for their recitals and personal interest. Read More

I fell in love with classical music while watching Leonard Bernstein conduct the NY Philharmonic as a young boy.In 1979 I graduated from Eastern Nazarene College with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Music Education. For the past 40 plus years I have taught music to children and adults in school and church settings, and at a performing arts center.
