I've been teaching most of my adult life. I started tutoring while still in high school, and I continued as a teaching assistant as a college student. I taught at Hope College for six years in a number of different subjects: saxophone, jazz ensembles, music theory, aural skills, piano class, and music appreciation. I even ran the percussion ensemble for one semester, which was a blast! I love my AF band job, but I do miss teaching full-time. Read More

I think it is extremely important to give students freedom to explore their own interests and foster their own development. Education is the lighting of a fire and I consider it a privelege to fuel that fire. As a student myself, I thrived when given a balance of direction and freedom from my teachers. I try to do the same for my students while also keeping in mind that each student is different. Read More

Otherwise, what’s the point! In 2016, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in Guitar with an emphasis in music composition. In addition to performing guitar, I am a singer-songwriter, and composer. These skills offer a unique ability to cross-connect with multiple genres ranging from Modern Pop-Rock to Contemporary Christian Music, and from Classical to Flamenco, performing either on classical, flamenco, acoustic, or electric guitar. This added versatility to my performing experience has opened many opportunities to perform in various venues and groups throughout the Twin Cities area, neighboring states, and abroad in South America and Mexico. My firsthand knowledge leads me to focus on the importance of a good teacher/student relationship, because it is directly linked to student motivation. During my training, I studied with professors at top music institutions, and am fortunate to have acquired a wealth of experience from professionals at the peak of their careers. Read More

I love hearing a student improve in their music. I love not only hearing them play but seeing them grow as a person. Music is an incredible powerful gift that can be used in so many different ways. I believe in learning a musical instrument students can be benefited as a person by learning self discipline/patience/perseverance. It's a great way to set goals and see goals met. There is no way for learning an instrument to be a quick process but little by little it can progress to a great accomplishment. Read More

I teach private music lessons for five years.Every year I play piano and guitar with Woodland Park Holiday Home tour. Listeners always enjoy our playing. I'm appreciated by local musicians and students. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for playing music. I'm always looking to bring on new students of all ages! Read More
