Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson, while also gently pushing them to take their abilities to the next level when I see that they are ready to. In addition, acknowledging accomplishments help fuel students' desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Read More

I started at the age of 9 on the accordion. I performed various concerts while continuing to sharpen my skills as a piano player. I have over 40 years of experience performing and teaching. What separates the best piano players from the rest of us is that they persevere through these challenges. Having the personal fortitude and work ethic to look at any difficult passage, and practice it until its perfect, is an attribute that you can learn, but will need to be cognizant of every day. I worked at this camp up until 2020; when the camp was shut down because of Covid. Since then, I have been teaching private voice and beginner piano lessons! I absolutely love setting up a plan for my private students, talking to them about their goals and where they want to take their music learning! I find it important to have structure in the lessons, as well as explaining the importance of practice and preparation. Read More

My beginning students learn the fundamentals of their instrument. I want every student to get a well rounded education from me. Woodwinds students study from Essential Elements. Young piano students use the Faber collection and older students use the Bastien series for the Older Beginner. Practical Theory from Sandy Feldstein is used for instrumental students. Spike and Party Cat piano theory books is used for younger piano students. I encourage students to learn solo pieces and memorize scales so they can audition for various festivals. Read More

My teaching style is very transparent; I want my students to recognize what we are working towards and how close they realistically are to that goal. This way, the student and I are working together to achieve a greater understanding of their instrument! I love feeling like I'm helping a student gain an understanding of a topic, rather than simply dictating a list of rules to know. I myself have an appreciation for many different styles of music, so I do my best to help students understand stylistically what is appropriate, necessary, and customary about the repertoire they are performing. My teaching style revolves around a student's interests, and my lessons are modified and personalized for each individual. Every student has a different style of their own, and I work hard to help them develope their style. Learning music should never feel like a chore; it should be a form of self expression. Rather than using only lesson books to teach, i also provide them a blank and personalized lesson journal, in which they learn the foundations of writing, reading and understanding sheet music and music theory. My teaching style is very thorough and patient. I welcome mistakes of course! It is not about how often you fall down, but about how you get up again. If you want to work hard, I will work hard as well. My students know the importance of regular practice in order to build dependable muscle memory in their playing. In a lesson we will spend half the amount of time working on technical building exercises and half the time working on repertoire. Read More
