I began teaching while in college and have now been teaching for 11 years. My students have ranged in age from 3-60. Since getting my Suzuki Flute certification in 2008, I have found the Suzuki method a great way to start young beginners. In addition to giving private lessons, I taught group flute classes for 3 years with the Harmony Program My students are encouraged to participate in ensembles, competitions and recitals as having such goals is a great motivation for practice and musical growth. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 9 years ago and have been consistently teaching student in my studio for the last 2 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key point I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for singing. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy singing and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I began teaching beginner piano when I was in middle school and caught the teaching bug! (My dad was a high school choir teacher for thirty-five years, so I must have caught it from him.) Now I teach violin/fiddle, voice and piano. I believe that learning classical music and sight reading are both fundamentals to begin learning any instrument. However, I love to teach other styles as well! I would love to work with budding musical theater performers who want to work on musicianship skills and/or learn piano/violin. Read More

I am using Walter Giseking-Karl Leimer methods. The first text book is "The School of Piano playing" by prof. Nikolaev (American edition),which means starting to read simultaneously treble and bass clefs, scales, etudes by Cherni, "Childrens Albums" by Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Inventions by J.S.Bach etc. It is the solid academical approach. Also from the first lessons me and student will play in 4 hands, and student will learn how to accompany and improvise from very first lessons, which is the favorite part of lessons for all my students! My goal as an educator is to help recognize what a student is trying to achieve and give them the tools, knowledge, and foundation to best achieve their goals. Each lesson is tailored to the student's unique interests and goals are set each week to help them accomplish based on those interests. It is crucial that each student progresses at a pace at which they are most comfortable. This way, students will be motivated and eager to learn and develop their skills, as they are only working on what interests them. Read More
