I have taught privately since 2006, though occasionally I will take two students from the same household, church or neighborhood and pair them up in what is known as a "partner lesson". Each person takes turns at the piano playing their respective scales, repertoire etc. and we offer one another encouragement as well as constructive criticism for those technical issues in need of improvement. I have been using the Bastien method since I studied it in the Engel School of Music in Orlando since I was six years old. I have been playing original composition since I was 10 and encouraged the pure enjoyment of playing the piano. These local children reminded me of myself when I was younger and strived to study music with a financially-difficult background. Helping these kids really was the highlight of my day as I could see how music has helped them grow. I will always feel grateful and excited to give back to my communities through what I do. For me it is essential that a student learn first all the techniques exercises and then start to create music.
