For guitar- I studied under Mike Christensen at Utah States University. I use his guitar books that he has written. For piano- I use Alfred''s piano books. They are very well written and are geared for success! For flute- I start with Suzuki and then the sky is the limit! I like playing music theory games with kids. It is more enjoyable to learn this when it is a game. Read More

For most students on piano, I typically use the Faber series to learn technique and theory simultaneously. It’s important to be able to gain that knowledge of theory early to help students be more independent. For adults on piano, we would work together to find repertoire to fit their skill level and interest to keep things engaging and relevant. Voice is much more individualized since every instrument is unique. Read More

For young beginners, I generally teach from the Nancy and Randall Faber Piano Adventure series, however I have recently been working to become more familiar with other options in order to best accomodate individual students. I am now also familiar with Alfred's Piano Method books, as well as the Hal Leonard series for young students. I have also taught by books from the same composers for an older beginner. I am a great fan of recitals, and as I build my studio I will collaborate with fellow piano teachers in the area to hold them. Read More

I am passionate and highly motivated about music and teaching music. I have been studying piano for over 10 years now. I graduated from Weber State University (WSU) with a Bachelor's of Music in Keyboard Pedagogy. I have performed many times in solo and ensemble works in different settings during my education. I had the opportunity to perform a Bach Concerto for Two harpsichords with WSU's orchestra. I have always loved making music and sharing it with others. Read More

I have been playing the piano since I was 7 years old. That's been 45 (yes) I said (45) years ago! I'm old. I'm married and have four adult children. I have a crazy cat named Lady. She rolls around like a dog. I love to crochet, knit and machine embroider and other hand crafts in my free time. I love to read. At this point in time Brandon Sanderson is my favorite author. Each student has his profile, so I seek to adapt the methodology of teaching according to the individual needs and personal choices of each student. For beginners looking to learn to read sheet music, I usually adopt the books of Michael Aaron or James Bastien (for small children). For those students who wish to develop their musicality without reading shuffles, I teach through imitation learning, the development of auditory perception and creativity. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my youth, as I began teaching private lessons at the age of 15. I have been consistently teaching students in their homes since then, with the most students since graduating from college. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument.
