My teaching experience has been incredibly rewarding and I have a deep love for teaching. I believe that knowledge is best imparted when it is shared with enthusiasm and passion, and I strive to make my lessons engaging and enjoyable for my students. I also recognize the importance of love and compassion in education, as it can help foster a positive learning environment. My teaching philosophy focuses on building students' independent study habits, so that they can become self-sufficient learners. Read More

I try to keep the student as interested as possible, some have shorter attention spans then others and for them maybe i will do 30 minutes instead of 45 minutes. others who are really into it and do not want to leave i may teach them for an hour and that often turns into 2 or 3 hours of just jamming and having fun at no extra cost because without students a maestro is nothing but a musician playing music. i love to play along with students so they are more prepared when they go out and make music with others musicians and they can stay in time with a drummer more easily. My teaching experience dates back nearly 30 years now! I have worked with students of many ages and proficiencies. Some students are more inclined to play by ear and others more inclined to read from the music. As a teacher I try to spot the type of learner that a student is, and work to strengthen areas that need exercise. I enjoy working with a wide age range of students, and believe that learning the piano can be a great asset at any age. Read More

As a teacher, I am a student of teaching. Having studied under a number of very different teachers, I have learned that motivation to practice comes and goes, but passion is what builds a lasting foundation for musicianship. Because we can all be passionate about different aspects of the same subject, my teaching philosophy is that each student should be able to experience being passionate about music, whether their personality is ‘forte’ or ‘pianissimo.’ I am blessed to be a teacher that loves teaching, and I want to convey that to my students by the way that I teach. In lessons, I emphasize enjoying the process of learning. Learning an instrument does not happen over night. It takes years of practice and can be a joyful task if one enjoys the process. I send my students home with new goals each week to help guide their practice. Read More

Along with a strong background of fundamentals found in Faber's Adventures, Burnam's Step By Step, and Snell's Repertoire, I help students from five to nine with personal selections based on interest. Examples would be Disney songs (Aladdin, Beauty and The Beast), Gospel and Religious (Jesus Loves Me, the Dreydl song), or superheroes (Spiderman). Ten to 14-year olds have used favorites from around the world -(everything from Greensleeves to Malaguena, In the Hall of the Mountain King and more superheroes like Batman and Iron Man), plus classics by Beethoven and Bach. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
