I have been teaching piano for over twenty years and love seeing the progress in my students! I teach all ages, the youngest being 3 years, the oldest being 75. I teach all types of learners from typical to prodigies, and children with developmental disorders such as ADD, Dyslexia and autism, even cerebral palsy. I spend about a third of the lesson on specific technique work and I always encourage students to bring in their own material that we can work on as well. I of course always have songs to suggest and I cater to each individual student's needs. If you need a high song, I'll find a high one. If you need a pop song, I'll find a pop song. Read More

I usually prefer a phone call or use the first lesson to guage the interest level, previous experience, and goals of the student and/or parents. I have used a variety of teaching books and methods, and will generally try to contour my methods to the needs of students while also keeping costs low. I do not often rquire students to purchase expensive music books, and prefer using repetoire and music directly relevant to students long and short-term goals. Read More

I don't want practice to feel forced, however I do think there is a certain amount of will power that goes along with learning a skill.
