I have been teaching since the summer of 2015. I have had students as young as three trough the age of early seventies. Since starting teaching at a private music school, I have found that classical music, along with modern music, helps to keep students of all ages engaged. For all of my beginning students, I use the method book Piano Safari because it teaches them reading music, playing music by rote, and technique all in one. There is a child version and an older beginner version. For students who are not beginners, I find them solo pieces that are suitable for them that they enjoy so that their playing will progress. I have performed with Opera Birmingham and I am a member of the Alabama Symphony Chorus. From there, I went on to a university and continued to teach guitar, bass, and voice while I finished up on getting my performance degree.
