My teaching experience began at a young age. I started volunteering lessons for the youth in my church. I played keyboard on the worship team for several years and some youth students showed interest so I would teach them every now and then. In 2017, I started teaching private lessons at a studio in Fort Worth. Trumpet: For beginning students who are children we begin with the basics. Learning how to blow, to buzz on the mouthpiece, getting a sound is key. Setting the embouchure I will listen to each student and adjust as needed. My students will play long tones on their mouthpieces and sirens blowing fast and slow increasing their range going up and down. They will be given simple exercises that will help them build their range and flexibility moving in a chromatic scale up and down. Read More

I have performed in music ensembles since childhood. As an elementary school student I performed in regionally recognized handbell, soprano recorder, and choir ensembles and I am a strong advocate of these types of ensembles at the elementary level. As a middle and high school student I participated in jazz, concert, symphonic, and marching band. While attending Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia I participated in Orchestra (trumpet), Glee Club, and Jazz Band (piano) and have extensive experience performing in symphonic and concert ensembles ensembles. My teaching experience spans 6 years. I've taught all ages, so I'm comfortable with everybodys learning pace. In college I studied under the Latin Grammy award winning La Catrina Quartet, and I hope to pass down the knowledge I gain from that experience to my students. With my students, I take them step by step through were they are as a musician, to were they need to be. I started teaching private cello and piano lessons shortly thereafter and continued to do so through college. After graduation, teaching music truly became my passion. I've worked extensively with private students of all ages. I taught private lessons, group classes, and sectionals to students through several different school orchestra programs. I've been teaching music for more than 12 years now. I can honestly say that I enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge of music. Not everyone can say that they truly enjoy their job so I feel blessed. I have taught hundreds of students ranging from ages 4 to 80! I have taught individuals, groups or online lessons.
