I am a Collaborative Piano Fellow at The Aspen Summer Music Festival and Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar. For my vocal students, I start with vocal exercises every lesson and allow them learn to vocal techniques through different vocal exercises. Then I work with my students on the repertoire that they are interested in or repertoire that can help them practice their weak spots. For my piano students, I use many different series (Alfred's, Faber, or some classic repertoire) depending on their level and age. For all students, I will also include music theory when I teach because the students will have a stronger foundation with all of these components, which will enable them to learn better, faster and even by their own. I have been teaching music since 1995 to all ages and levels. I enjoy motivating students to reach their artistic potential, and to have fun along the way! I have taught university-level music courses, and am presently teaching elementary school music classes. I am also a mentor teacher for teaching artists in the Baltimore-Washington area via Young Audiences of Maryland, Prince George's County Public Schools, and the Teaching Artist Institute. While trumpet technique and routine will be heavily emphasized for all students, it is important to realize what the student is most interested and excited about learning about. I have been fortunate enough to have great teachers throughout my life who saw my passion in particular areas of music and encouraged it.
