I have loved music my entire life, and I am a fun, knowledgeable and dedicated teacher of both the clarinet and the piano. For beginning students, I begin with basic open chords and scales. Once the student has basic chords down I like to teach them a song of there choosing. I found this to be one of the most rewarding experiences when I began taking lessons. For adults, I like to hear any ideas they may have and give my input and direction. I use Suziki Violin Method, Bastian for piano. I have also been developing my own method, and it's dependant in the students agenda. I encourage the building of reperatore early on. I have also used Liytle Einstein piano method and varies products produced by Hal Leonard. I find the students goals are very formative to the approach I choose to take. My instruction follows a broad method of teaching technique as well as musicality. I use method books such as Arbans, Clarke, Frink, Schlossberg, Concone, as well as several etude books like the Voxman series, Charlier, and others. Depending on the student's knowledge, I can teach theory concepts so the student can better understand the broad aspects of composition and improvisation. My main focuses are: rhythm, tone, playing technique, history, range, musicality with a broad library of different approaches to teaching through applied lessons. Read More
