 I have been teaching in the Columbus area for 14 years.  I have studied piano and voice for 30 years performing and had experience auditioning for and performing in musical theater, opera, and contemporary settings. Ibegan teaching private lessons from 2004 and tried to consistently teaching students in my home studio. I was a counselor and private lesson instructor at the OSU Flute Workshop from 2011 to 2013. Playing duets with student, learn very exciting extended techniques, and various repertoire are features I emphasize for students to help them enjoy and motivate to learn. I have volunteer experience doing 5 years of marching band and 2 of those 5 years, I was the section leader for the trumpet section. I also was an Intern as music teacher, student teaching, for 1 Semester of Senior year – 2017 – 2018. For my professional experience, I have done a few gigs on trumpet. I played at Messiah Lutheran Church in Reynoldsburg OH as a Trumpet Player for their Easter services.(4/21/19) and (4/1/2018). I do not believe in a 'monkey see monkey do' style where I simply show the student and have them repeat the concept or technique, but rather a discovery learning approach where I provide the needed support for the student to learn and apply the concepts. I performed and participated in competitions until high school. My favorite composers to learn were Beethoven and Chopin.
