I have been a music instructor since 1979. I teach the piano, spinet organ and keyboards. I also have a passion in MIDI computer music. I love seeing students excel and be given the opportunity to do well in their skill set. For beginner students, i typically like to work with the tried and true Suzuki books, as well as theory practice with Essential Elements for violin, and the Faber books for pianists. I will begin to introduce solo work as skills build, but we will always be working on something that the student genuinely is interested in. For adults/ intermediate or advanced students i try to find what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly to keep lessons fun and engaging while also slightly challenging to further understanding of technical abilities. With the younger beginners (elementary school), I’m very, very energetic! I do my best to break it balanced; however, I strive to make the environment as fun and warm and welcoming as they would like. I pride myself on leaving every child eager to learn more! With the older beginners (middle school and high school), I keep in mind their personalities and methods of learning and processing the material, so the lesson is still warm, but more balanced in nature. I do not pressure students to enter competitions and recitals are optional unless 10 or more students are willing to participate. I do encourage students to look for opportunity to play/sing in their school/church or in front of their friends/family for special occasions. Game playing is incorporated within the lesson time to reinforce/review key concepts/skills or knowledge for group lesson setting of 2-3 students as an additional feature. Read More

I have a variety of methods that I use to teach students.  I have used many Hal Leonard's band and guitar books, I use a wide variety of materials so that the students can achieve their goals. There is always new material coming out and I will also write my own technical exercises if the student needs them.
