For young beginners I typically with Suzuki Book 1 or the Abracadabra Flute Book.  For children preparing for NYSMA I use the Rubank method with supplements from Forty Little Pieces and gradually move on to more solo repertoire.  For adult students I make repertoire selections based on students' interests while taking care to keep lessons both engaging and fun no matter their starting level.  Although my training is primarily classical, I am happy to incorporate music from other genres into lessons. I have been teaching for 5 years to a wide range of ages. I take an individualistic approach to teaching, tailoring my lessons to my students. I teach violin for all levels and beginner/intermediate piano. I encourage all my students to learn how to read music and have a basic understanding of theory. I have been teaching private lessons since 2015, my freshman year in college. During that time, I have had students from a variety of ages, backgrounds, and levels of proficiency. My first teaching influence was my mom, who was a high school orchestra director and continues to teach strings to elementary school students part-time today. I've been teaching privately since I was in high school when I taught beginner trombone and euphonium to middle school and junior high students. I love teaching because it is absolutely incredible watching a beginner blossom into a passionate and talented musician and being there every step of the way to watch their growth.
