For beginner students on drums I use Ted Reed's Syncopation and Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone. These books provide a great foundation for every drummer and once we put together a great foundation our potential greatly increases. I also assign a great deal of listening for my students from all areas of music. For more advanced students we do use Syncopation and Stick Control as well but there are a number of other great resources such as The New Breed by Gary Chester or Creative Coordination by Keith Copeland. Each student has a unique learning style, and I strive to adapt my teaching style to be as effective as possible. The best teacher will teach their student how to teach themselves and how to critically listen to their playing. The most significant thing to know about my teaching style is that we will continually discuss methods of practice and the reasons behind what we are learning. I help my students to set realistic short term and long term goals and give them the tools to reach those goals. Read More

For piano students ages 5-9, I generally use the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures series. For piano ages 10-12 I use the Older Beginner series. My teen and adult students normally work out of and Adult All in One series. For more advanced piano students Ill work repertoire, theory and scales/technique as needed/desired by the student. For voice, I tailor the lessons to the students age, interest and ability. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
For my piano students, I use different method and technique books in order to help my students learn the basics. This includes how to properly read their sheet music so that they can pratice their skills by themselves. I also use repetition and demonstrate different pratice skills so that my students can further advance their piano skills. For both vocal and piano lessons I do demonstrate difficult parts of the music in order to help my students understand the music selection that they are working on. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
I always start my lessons off with vocal exercises in order to assess the status of the voice and what we need to work on, and also what progress has been made since our last session, if any. In order to keep my students interested, I like to work on repertoire that theyre interested in and that they select. I definitely suggest pieces that I think might help practice areas of their vocal technique that they would like to improve, but I also want to make sure its music that they like and want to sing.
