Instruments: Piano Voice

I began teaching private voice and piano lessons in 2010 while pursing my undergraduate degree, immediately recognizing the joy of helping develop a passion for music within any willing student. I have since continued to teach students of all ages, styles, and experience levels at a studio location, in student's homes, and in music schools. Since I began teaching, I've been most surprised by how much a musical education benefits any student in many aspects of life, whether that be in school, work, or other creative outlets. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice Violin Fiddle

I began teaching beginner piano when I was in middle school and caught the teaching bug! (My dad was a high school choir teacher for thirty-five years, so I must have caught it from him.) Now I teach violin/fiddle, voice and piano. I believe that learning classical music and sight reading are both fundamentals to begin learning any instrument. However, I love to teach other styles as well! I would love to work with budding musical theater performers who want to work on musicianship skills and/or learn piano/violin. Read More

Instruments: Piano Recorder Keyboard

With my piano teaching, I am particularly experienced in working with younger or beginner students, combining solid technical works, classical repertoires, as well as students' choice of preference (pop, jazz, or even improvisation and song writing!) to make the lessons firm and fun. I typically start the lesson with scales and etudes, followed by repertoires that are a combination of the students' and my choices. With my recorder teaching, I emphasize the importance of technique, but also musicality, creaticity, and enjoyment. Read More

Instruments: Piano Bass Guitar Double Bass

I believe the role of a teacher is to provide a framework or organized system of progress for his/her student. A teacher is not simply someone who orders and dictates; but someone who can stimulate their students growth in whatever their field of study is. Particularly in the case of music, a teachers number one duty is to show their student how to practice efficiently and thoroughly. They help students to progress quickly by pointing out which areas of their playing need improvement and what to focus on. Read More

I usually don't believe in rules. I never really followed the rules as a musician and just played how I felt because of my gift. I make music sound more colorful and bright and I can add any instrument to music and make it sound good. Technically, I would just teach beginners how to play whatever instrument they want to learn. For example, if you want to learn how to play the piano, I will sit down with you the first day and we will go over how to play the piano and you will automatically be playing notes and chords after the first session. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
