Although most of my playing experience has been with rock bands, big bands and weddings, I have a B.A. in classical performance/music education from William Paterson University. Most of my private study has been with Dave Larson of the New Jersey Symphony and Dave Rogers, a William Paterson jazz adjunct. My classroom career beganat the Passaic County Elks' Cerebral Palsy Center in Clifton, NJ, and in2001 I moved to my present position as Elementary Music Teacher in Middlesex, NJ. Read More

For beginning students I typically start with Hannon and my own finger exercises. I ask the the student to draw notes on a staff so they can get familiar with reading and composing music. All students from beginner to advanced, are given warm up exercises and recommended pieces to play . After 30 years of teaching piano, organ and flute ,I have written my own lesson books series. Each lesson program is custom fit to the students style and playing level. Read More

It gives you better vocal control, larger ranges, and overall finesse. Through both my teachers I also learned a lot about different techniques on piano. For most piano students I start them off with 'An All In One Beginner Piano Course' with Andrew Fling. I also introduce scale exercises for both piano and vocal students, which strengthens their mastery of the instrument and introduces discipline and drive. Read More

My teaching experience began in college when I worked as a student volunteer in the Kean University Chamber Music ensemble. I worked with the vocalists in sectionals as well as one adult beginner flute player who I am good friends with. I later became the student assistant for that same ensemble my last semester in undergraduate as I continued to give critique and work with the flute student who was just starting, on the flute fundamentals such as sound, breathing, scales and long tones. My teaching style is a something I consider to be a hybrid: I combine the academic knowledge I have gained since I started my first piano lesson at four years old, along with the real life experience I obtained as a full-time traveling musician. I take this unique style of teaching and apply it in a very engaging and stimulating learning environment. I like to apply techniques from both the Orff and Kodaly teaching philosophies with younger students. Read More
