For younger students, I find that book based methods are very helpful, and typically I go through the Hal Leonard Essential Elements Series. Once the student has a firm handle of the basics of saxophone (fingerings, embouchure, dynamics, etc.) then I start having them read etude books, and prepare pieces for recitals and other performances or auditions. For adults, I like to teach based on a goal oriented program. For example, If I have a student who is only interested in learning the saxophone for the sake of playing "Yakety Sax" or "The Pink Panther Theme", then I will tailor the lesson plan towards learning that while still working on the fundamentals of Saxophone along the way. My goal in teaching woodwinds is to inspire young artists to find the joy in their own development. As a teaching musician for the past nine years, I have found my own joy in teaching on-on-one and watching my students progress over time. I like to teach active lessons full of movement, creation, and student-driven ideas. I teach the instrument - the notes, rhythms, techniques, but my students shine in their ability to use that knowledge to create something new and to feel confident about it. Read More

I'm a certified music instructor whose favorite part of teaching is getting to meet new people and bond over music. I graduated from Messiah College with Bachelor's degree in Music education and have taught as a certified music teacher for a year now. I have been playing clarinet since grade school, saxophone since high school, and picked up piano in college. I have also performed in many ensembles, such as the Messiah College Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. Read More

I’ve also tried my hand at Music Production and songwriting, and found that these ventures are gratifying ways to expand and grow as a musician. They’ve given me insight that I would have never received otherwise. Music is a great way to build many abilities that students will benefit from long after they’ve stopped studying and I hope to share my knowledge and experience with as many people as possible. I began taking on private students while still in college at Temple University in Philadelphia. Although I was pursuing a degree in performance, taking on a studio of woodwind students while completing my studies helped me realize my passion for passing along my own knowledge and experience I have gained as a musician! Since then, I have maintained a regular teaching schedule combining both in-home and studio-based lessons. I am able to teach saxophone lessons of all levels, as well as beginner flute, clarinet, and piano lessons. Read More
