The first thing a teacher must do is figure out how to motivate a student to practice. This can be done differently for different students. I have worked with high school students and middle school students and find it rewarding to see them grow and progress into better musicians. Teaching, for me, began when I was in high school; I taught summer drumset lessons at McQuaid Jesuit and taught Karate at Martial Arts America. This desire to teach was incorporated with my love of music...leading me to pursue a degree in Music Education.
