Currently licensed as a substitute teacher and a paraprofessional (teacher's aide), I have much experience in a classroom setting and assisting elementary through high school students. I have held both licenses for over 5 years. I also have previous experience as the coordinator for an after school program through Chicago Public Schools, which I was employed by, and running the program as well. My teaching philosophy is "exploration as a road to mastery." I help students build a repertoire they can perform. This tends to be a combination of songs they know and love, and songs that I introduce them to. I introduce the elements of music theory in relation to songs. Scales, harmony, and ear training are grasped better, and enjoyed more, once a student has context. My goal is to have each student feel safe in the learning process, while still pushing them out of their comfort zone. Read More

In 2012 I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies. Since then, I have moved to Nashville, earned my Master's Degree from Belmont University in 2014, and have began my professional career as a freelance saxophonist.
