I graduated from Temple University in 2011 with my Bachelor's degree in Music Education.  I was a saxophone major, but I have also studied piano since the age of three.  I enjoy performing in musical pits, which is where I picked up the flute and the clarinet.  I am currently a choral teacher at the high school level, but I have previously taught in a K-8 school, as well as several years in a daycare setting with very young students. While reading the notes and rhythms is obviously important, understanding why those notes, rhythms or markings are in the music will help students develop and learn musicianship skills that are often overlooked. I'm a passionate and curious musician. I'm self-taught in the styles of classical and jazz from when I picked up the clarinet I found at a Salvation Army at the age of 10. I taught myself until I started college and studied with Kelly Lake, Stephanie Gardner and currently with Jeff Quamo. While working toward receiving my Masters in Clarinet performance at NAU, I taught music theory and aural perception at the undergraduate level. In addition to teaching I've had two pieces written and recorded for me along with a couple tracks on a comedian's recent albums.
