After graduating at the music department, the Dean of Music recommended me for the music tutoring position at Valencia College and I taught under that position for one full school year. I even had the pleasure of performing genres that were totally unfamiliar such as Afro Beat and even Bollywood Pop. Currently, I am laying foundation in my new residence of Tampa Bay. When I start teaching new student I usually use Sergey Rozanoffs method and also my fathers Sergey Gutorov senior methods on both instruments clarinet and saxophone. Usually with a beginners for the first few lessons I start solfge and music theory and later continue introducing instrument. It is very important for woodwind players to learn from very beginning how to use air and embouchure right way. The teacher should be similar to a blade of grass which blows in the wind. At the very beginning level I would start with fundamentals from whatever book I feel would be best for the student depending on their age and knowledge. Beforehand I definitely will need to asses their knowledge so I can do so accordingly. I however will now focus on solely fundamentals and will try to include in songs that the student would like to learn as long as it is in the bounds of reality, the lessons I provide are only part of the equation and the real work is what is put in after the lesson.
