Typically when I begin with children I incorporate the Hoffman Method and Books such as the Little Mozarts books, Alfred, Faber and Master Theory. I love seeing students realize their own progress. I always like to start with recording a first attempt and then recording it again once it has been mastered so they can see their progress. I focus on positive reinforcement teaching. It is very easy, especially for a new student, to get bogged down in not making progress fast enough so I like to make sure they see all the steps they're taking and also know where it will lead them. During his time at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Jones served as a coach for flute ensembles, taught supplementary flute lessons for undergraduate students, worked as the orchestra manager and librarian and also worked with professors as a teaching assistant. I started teaching Privately in 2007 and have continued off and on since. I have worked with students in Woodwind and Brass either privately or in a school setting. Also, I had the opportunity to work with multiple schools ensembles and marching bands. I encourage all of my students to maintain a constant practice schedule in order to work toward our goals.
