My name is Aaron; I am a teacher and performer, based in the Metro-Detroit area. I am currently a graduate bass trombone student at the University of Michigan, studying with Dr. David Jackson. This past summer, I was chosen as one of three finalists in the International Trombone Association's Donald Yaxley Solo Bass Trombone Competition. When I was growing up and learning trombone I found myself removing the emotional parts of creating beautiful music from the instrument and found making music to be a boring part of my day. I began piano lessons in the 2nd grade, and studied flute and guitar, and finally settled on playing French Horn in High School. I took lessons from a horn player in the Detroit Symphony. I majored in French horn and orchestral conducting at the Rubin Academy in Tel-Aviv, Israel, and completed my Undergraduate degree at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. I cater my teaching to the students needs as an individual and their goals. I am interested in fostering their inate musical abilities, as well as the musical skills they wish to obtain. If the student is in a school instrumental program, I always defer to the band director as the student spends more time with them.
