I graduated with High Honors from CU-Boulder in Jazz Performance, though I love playing all styles from Pop to Classical to Avant-Garde and Electroacoustic music. I've had opportunities to perform at the Telluride Jazz Festival, Dazzle, Nocturne, the Mercury Cafe, Berklee College of Music and numerous other jazz clubs and halls. However, if students have another book for a school band class, I am more then happy to work with them to preserve some line of consistency in the students education. As they progress, I look to find more advanced etude and solo books, focusing on music that is of interest to the student. I am a passionate musician, educator, conductor, and composer, and I have been happily obsessed with music since I began piano lessons at age 10. I joined the school band program in 6th grade, and since then, I have learned how to play and teach many different instruments. When taking on beginner students, I typically use a blend of method books and novice musical pieces to begin to build musicianship. With intermediate musicians, I tend to seek out anything of interet to the student while incorporating harder repertoire to strengthen musicianship and to continue to peek interest in music. With adult musicians, I let them guide me to their area of interest, and I capitalize on that to guide them to better musicianship, no matter what their skill level may be. Read More
