I have been teaching music since I was in high school. I gave lessons to middle school students and to any band students on low brass instruments who were struggling. I even took Teacher Cadets as a senior in high school and did a month long internship with a middle school band director where I learned for the first time how to direct a band. In college, I studied Music Education and applied that to multiple jobs while in college and post college. Read More

Music, at its most basic, should be fun, and I try to impart that to my students. Lessons with me involve jokes, fun music, and taking our music making to the extreme. In addition, I strive to teach music as a language; learning it both aurally and visually, developing an ear for music and self-evaluation while learning to read the notes on the page. I also see it as my duty to model what the student musician should strive to sound like, giving them an ideal sound in their head through frequent modeling. Read More

I know of the importance and rewards of a good music education. Playing a musical instrument can give a student much self confidence, relaxation and enjoyment. It is rewarding for me to work towards that goal for every student that I have the privilege of teaching. I share my positive musical experiences with my students so that they will continue to explore and appreciate performing and also listening to music. Read More

As beginners, I recommend the first Hal Leonard Essential Elements Band books with EEi. The EEi feature allows students to access online features that coordinate with their private lessons and enhance their ability to learn. As students progress through the book, I add solo repertoire to the student's EEi account so they can both hear it played and record their own performance of each work of band music. Guitar students start with Essential Elements, piano students begin with Piano Adventures/Adult Piano Adventures, and both offer interactive online components which enhance the student's resources and ability to practice and learn between lessons. Instruments: Piano Voice Trombone
For beginners, I start with basic scale structure and an introdction to ear training. Solo repertoire is then added to the mix. For adults, I try to find what the student is interested in and guide my instruction accordingly. Always keep lessons fun, no matter what! Read More

I am a highly motivated, hard-working, and outgoing individual. I love people and believe thatteachingmusic lessons is one the best ways to connect with students of all ages and develop a relationship with them. I started learning piano in Kindergarten, began Saxophone in my 5th grade Band, and started tutoring other band students in 6th Grade. In 7th Grade I earned scholarship to attend Illinois Summer Youth Music Camp at the University of Illinois. Read More

My parents are both teachers so I come from a background of educators. I have been teaching for the last 3 years as I was completing my degree at CU Boulder. Even though I am a jazz trombonist, I focus on finding music that students like, not that I personally want to play. I also highly recommend students to write their own music and play it back on trombone as a way to actualize the songs that are playing throughout their lives. Read More
