Then, depending on age and experience, I build a custom program for the student, which may include using various books, resources, and even materials which I have created. Music, at its most basic, should be fun, and I try to impart that to my students. Lessons with me involve jokes, fun music, and taking our music making to the extreme. In addition, I strive to teach music as a language; learning it both aurally and visually, developing an ear for music and self-evaluation while learning to read the notes on the page. The great thing about one on one teaching is each of my students get individual time with me versus being in a band class with lots of other students.
