I am motivated to teach students all aspects of music. Each lesson focuses on scales and exercises, performance pieces, and musical creation. I graduated from St. Mary's college in 2006 with a BA of performing arts. I am currently playing with the Walnut Creek Concert Band and The Community Womens Orchestra. I have had the opportunity to play with Awesome Orchestra, Dirty Cello, a Prince cover band and many other jazz and classical groups. Read More

I've been teaching the brass instruments for over 30 years, and I love to teach my students! I teach all ages, and I tailor my teaching to the student's own pace and abilities. I'm very good at sizing up students and telling them exactly what they need to do to instantly improve their playing. I also include some education in music theory as part of our lessons. I assist and encourage my students to become the best musicians they can be, which includes learning different styles of music, composing their own music, and preparing for auditions and competitions. There are many great method books out there for young students. Typically, I use whatever material the school provides, be it Standard of Excellence or Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. I like to incorporate other methods for more advanced students, such as the Conservatory Method by Jean-Baptiste Arban, Michael Davis's many offerings, and/or any of the great etude books out there. I feel it is best to use a well-rounded approach, especially considering the students needs as it pertains to their goals. Read More

I am a professional musician who has been gracing the stages, classrooms, and homes of the San Francisco Bay Are for almost 20 years. I absolutely love music and the benefits it can bring to our lives. Whether I am on a stage bringing joy and good times to an audience or sitting one on one with a student helping them understand a tough musical concept, I bring the same passion and knowledge to the table. Music, for me, is more than a profession; it is a way of life. I graduated from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with my Bachelors in Trombone Performance. I love to introduce young students to the exciting and ever evolving world of music. Performance has enabled me to participate in unforgettable moments, like playing in Davies Symphony Hall, the Berlin Philharmoniker, and various other venues accross the world. I wish to give my students the skills needed to have these experiences for themselves. Read More

I am a currently attending SJSU for my Music Education degree. My main instrument is trombone, but I also teach beginning piano among other instruments. I love teaching, and I enjoy seeing my students learn and grown in their love and passion for music. I also currently teach at various schools around South San Jose. I use a two pronged approach to my lessons. I start with fundamentals, especially focusing on two areas: sound and counting. 1.) Sound: Over the last 34 years, I've found that the student who does not sound good - even though he or she can play all notes and rhythms - will not be pleasing to anyone who hears them play. What good is it if he can play all rhythms and notes and sound bad? Read More
