I'm a vocal and instrumental instructor for over fourteen years who is passionate about helping students both express their thoughts and feelings through music and develop their skills in music as a door to open other opportunities in life. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Music from Abilene Christian University and have enjoyed performing in many excellent instrumental and vocal musical groups. When taking on beginner students, I typically use a blend of method books and novice musical pieces to begin to build musicianship. With intermediate musicians, I tend to seek out anything of interet to the student while incorporating harder repertoire to strengthen musicianship and to continue to peek interest in music. I'm currently attending Metropolitan State University of Denver getting my bachelor's in trumpet performance. I've been playing the trumpet since I was 11, but really found that it was my calling in my junior year of high school where I decided to pursue a degree in something that I love! Since then, I have won the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award in 2018, played with the Parker Symphony as the assistant principal trumpet, have played with the Colorado Brass, the Rocky Mountain Jazz Orchestra, and the Mariachi Los Caracaminos de MSU, as well as many other chamber ensembles both professionally and at my university. Instrumental lessons usually follow the method book that is selected by their school band director. Beyond that I have a large library of supplementary music to expand the students interest with new styles and composers.I'm very flexible with the method books and after I get to know the student I can select a method that would work the best for instruction.
