I pick the one that suits the childs' needs the best, based on how the first few lessons go. When others are involved in the lesson it can cause a student to become self conscious and therefore effects their progress. I stay flexible to the individual students' needs. I try to keep the student engaged and ask many questions to help them become their own best teacher. I will give assignments and create goals but also want the student to be self motivated. I will not be overly strict when it comes to practice.
