I encourage regular practice, as students who feel they are progressing and doing well tend to enjoy their instrument more. Once the student has progressed I will begin some solo repertoire from varying genres. I find it is always helpful to allow students to play music that they enjoy - experiencing a range of both popular and classical pieces to broaden their horizons.
