I teach the basics first. I show my student how to hold the bow and the violin in detail. I explain that it will be awkward to hold the bow in correct position because it is unusual for person to hold the right hand that way. Some highlights of my teaching career include working with A Gift for Music to give Title 1 schools access to the fine arts, being a cabin counselor and cello instructor for young musicians at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and providing private lessons at The Orlando School of Music. All these experiences created a burning desire for higher fine arts education, culminating in my part in the co-creation of the Central Florida Cello Association, an organization which provides the UCF cello studio with multiple masterclasses a year given by world class artists and acclaimed educators. I started playing violin at the age of nine through my elementary schools string program. In addition to performing with the Discovery Middle School and Timber Creek High School orchestras, I participated every year in the all-county and all-state orchestras and served as associate concertmaster of the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra. I completed a double major in general music and engineering at Northwestern University in Chicago.
