I believe that a judgement-free, cooperative lesson atmosphere is crucial to a student's success! Violinists and violists are often taught according to a traditional teaching method that is too rigid and outdated. In contrast, I design my lessons to fit each of my students' individual artistic goals, and encourage students to ask questions. I usually make a list of areas of focus for each lesson, and encourage my students to keep a practice journal. Read More

I am a fun and easy-going instructor and I love working with people. In 2015, I graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelor of Music degree in Viola Performances. Asides from viola, I also play piano and drums at local churches. I currently teach at Edward R. Murrow High School, so I commute between Brooklyn and Queens and am willing to teach in both areas. Viola and violin are the best instruments I can teach (up to advanced), with cello and bass at a beginner/intermediate level. Read More

I have available for trial lessons are instruments (mostly violins one viola) to use! This will give the student a chance to really know if they want to play that particular instrument without having to go in renting blind. I also have a few names of rental places and would be more than happy to accompany a student for a fitting. I tend to use the Suzuki books as a base for my string lessons. Read More

Music is a therapeutic tool and I like to emphasize this aspect when teaching as well. Are you interested in learning classical technique but also love other styles of music? Are you interested in learning violin to enhance or add music into your life? I am open to anything, just let me know your goals and I would love to work with you to achieve them. I approach each students' situation uniquely and love customizing lessons to your personal goals. Read More

While most beginning students respond well to the Suzuki method, I also incorporate elements of traditional (namely note-reading) and Dalcroze methods (namely movement, improv, and aural skills) in my teaching. I am also experienced in preparing students for auditions and examinations, such as the Royal Conservatory of Music examination in Canada and ABRSM in the UK. I began teaching at the age of 17 years old and started a strings program with the founder of Akoustikos. I began teaching the Suzuki method and I love to hold group lessons as it encourages and fosters healthy growth. Since then, I have taught all over Pennsylvania and extensively studied different teaching methods to build a flexible program that is best for the student! I also love to transcribe music that student's love because it has many benefits including fun! Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
