Before I began my professional teaching career I already had several years of experience instructing my two younger siblings in violin and cello, even serving as a primary instructor to one of the siblings at one point. I have also used Liytle Einstein piano method and varies products produced by Hal Leonard. I find the students goals are very formative to the approach I choose to take. I use a variety of different methods and I tailor my curriculum to each individual student, offering you a personalized approach that is unique to your personality and learning style. I teach repertoire from the Suzuki Violin School and Barbara Barber's Solos for Young Violinists, I also like to incorporate other styles if the student is interested, such as fiddle and bluegrass, and even pop and Disney songs. I also use etude and scale books to help build and enhance certain techniques, such as Wolfhart Etudes, Barber Barber Scales for Young Violinist, Carl Flesch Scale System, etc., depending on the level and individual needs of the student. For beginning piano students, I typically start with Faber's Piano Adventures. I also use these books as a foundation for intermediate students. After students have grasped the basics, I will talk with them to determine their interest in different musical styles and songs. I will then add in supplementary material to go alongside the Piano Adventures books to give them a broader range of musical ability. Teacher interaction with hands-on at lessons: In order to help students understand the feeling of correct violin playing, I occasional assist them in such ways as guiding the bow, hands, and arms. Student interaction: I want every one of my students to be engaged and excited while learning the violin. My aim is to combine fun with learning.
