I use a variety of different methods and I tailor my curriculum to each individual student, offering you a personalized approach that is unique to your personality and learning style. I teach repertoire from the Suzuki Violin School and Barbara Barber's Solos for Young Violinists, I also like to incorporate other styles if the student is interested, such as fiddle and bluegrass, and even pop and Disney songs. I also use etude and scale books to help build and enhance certain techniques, such as Wolfhart Etudes, Barber Barber Scales for Young Violinist, Carl Flesch Scale System, etc., depending on the level and individual needs of the student. I also want my students to enjoy the violin and look forward to their lessons each week as much as I do. If I ever sense that the student is becoming frustrated or isn’t practicing, I consider it my responsibility to get them back on track. Whether it be through extra encouragement, learning their favorite song, making a violin exercise into a game, or just changing up the routine a little, I do whatever I can to make them excited about the violin again. I believe the best teaching method is one that focuses on the accomplishments of each student. I have several different rewards systems that I will use to motivate students to practice at home. Part of this system is encouraging my students to set their own realistic goals and walking them through how to reach them.
