For beginners who are children, I start with the essential Suzuki method which includes a focus on musical listening imitation, parental involvement (at very young ages) and creating an effortless technique. The Suzuki books are great in that they provide a great foundation and an extremely logical progression for taking students from complete beginners to an advanced level. For advanced students, we can branch out into a wide variety of classical concertos or other repertoire (this happens around Suzuki book 6) I love to teach adults, and I try to structure my teaching in accordance with adult students' goals and interests. In 1968, I auditioned and was accepted with scholarship to Dartmouth College as a participant in the Convocation of the Arts summer program. Upon my return to Chicago, I studied with the late Morris Gomberg, then Chairman of the Strings Division at the Chicago College of Performing Arts/Roosevelt University. My studies with Mr.Gomberg were interrupted in 1969 when he stopped teaching due to illness.  In the years following, I began to study the chamber music literature, participating in a number of chamber music workshops and master classes including programs at Mannes College of Music/The New School, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Music Mountain, Vassar College, and VMAC (Vermont Music and Art Center).
