While it is important to correct errors in order to be able to learn, i think it is equally if not more important to focus on a students accomplishments. In the first class I like to know if the student has any knowledge in music and what made them want to learn the instrument. If they have some knowledge I like to see what they know so I can determine an appropriate path base on what they already know. I teach both the Classical and Suzuki methods. I have students of all ages so it varies which student is learning which method. The best for children is the Suzuki method that is widely used in the USA. Classical methods can be used when I teach young adults and adults. It is pretty flexible though and I sometimes teach younger children the classical method. I like challenges and I often have children and older students that express different tempers. Read More

Out of all of the things in the world, nothing is more amazing, then when I witness my students develop a true passion for music. Music comes from within. When you play something you love, it is no longer the black notes and lines on the page, but becomes so much more when it comes from your heart. I am a public schools orchestra director who has taught in 2 school distrcits in New Jersey and now will be teaching in the Orange County Public Schools. My love of music grew as a child having a family supportive of music education. I see the participation in playing musical instruments as much of a fun activity as it is a physical and mental workout. After receiving my Associate in Science in Music I went straight into a studio and started teaching a range of students from 4 - 24 years old, and from the never-picked-up-an-instrument-before to I-can't-wait-for-the-competition levels.
