Although I do not teach Suzuki method, I do like to use the Suzuki method books as a resource for teaching younger students. The first piece my school-aged students learn will always be one that they know the tune to already: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, for example. Once students are comfortable in holding and using the violin, I introduce a little bit of note reading at each lesson. For adult students, understanding of the instrument will come much faster, so I love getting my students to play music with which they can focus on making a beatiful sound while still learning the fundamentals. When I teach the instrument, I like to help the student to not only develop and improve their technique, but also find a voice of their own. I believe that every individual is special, and as a teacher I am most satisfied when I can help my students express themselves through music. Coming from a strong musical background, I can provide solid foundations for beginners as well as great technical and musical challenges for intermediate and advanced students. Read More

For me, the most important thing is not to teach what I know. The most important thing is to teach my students to generate knowledge for themselves. In addition, the change, the result or the progress I seek is that which exerts music through its transforming power of the human being. My style is interactive. The dynamics of the class we make between the student and me. Of course, I lead the class, but the questions are very important. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 4 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 2 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and folk music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the violin and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I find joy in helping students achieve their goals. I always aim for high quality, but also make the process fun. If the goal is to sound professional, I make sure we spend a good amount of time working on scales, etudes, and learning the essential classical music like the Bach six Sonatas and Partitas. I like the Galamian violin playing methods, and find them very effective to teach. I do this with almost all levels of students, as it solidifies the technical skills of a performer, allowing them to express themselves musically. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with a modified Suzuki method, starting with rote learning and eventually progressing to notated music. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
