Hi! My name is Lauryn L. and I am 19. Right now I go to BYU, and I am studying Viola Performance. I started viola in 6th grade and have been playing ever since. From 10th grade to 12th grade I went to the Gifted Music School Conservatory in SLC. I graduated from there last year. I have been able to work with many professional musicians through this music school. My favorite memories from my music experience so far was playing in Abravanel Hall with the Lyceum Philharmonic Orchestra, and playing 2 outdoor concerts at Thanksgiving Point Ashton Gardens with them as well. I enjoy teaching because I have a love for music. It's my hope that this love and motivation to play well will be passed on to my students. It's so rewarding to me to see my students learning and growing in their musical abilities. I offer plenty of praise and encouragement. I follow the Suzuki method for beginner students, with some additional instruction to learn to read sheet music for those with previous music experience or older students who are ready to begin reading music. After the student has completed the first several books of the Suzuki method, I include selections from Solos for Young Violinists and other solo pieces as appropriate to reinforce certain skills. Of course, when students show an interest in learning a particular piece, I am always happy to bring it into their repertoire. Read More

I love teaching piano and violin lessons to students of all ages from beginner to upper intermediate levels. I studied piano performance with Robert Smith and violin performance with Percy Kalt at BYU; I have also studied with Jeffrey Shumway, former Head of Keyboard Studies, BYU and Carroll Meyer, Boise State University. These wonderful teachers guided and inspired me to attain and pass on classical technique and style to the next generation of musicians. Read More

I have consistently been teaching students in my home for the past 7 years and never want to stop! My goal with each student is to teach the fundamentals of the violin/viola, and especially how to practice in an organized way. I want my students to gain their own love for the instrument and be inspired daily by music. My students are required to practice daily and perform often.
