I had a lot of fabulous teachers in my life, but the ones I remember and am truly grateful for are the ones who inspired me to be a better musician and ones who taught me how to teach myself. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I was always interested in music as a child and was given the opportunity to take piano lessons from an extraordinary piano teacher. My approach is definitely supportive and positive, but I don't let that get in the way of challenging the student. I am not afraid to tell the student that they can do better. It's very important to get to know the student's goals and inspirations. That way, I can focus on the skills they need. I began playing the piano when I was 5 and started with the Suzuki method on violin when I was 7. I went to a performing arts high school where I played in orchestras, chamber ensembles, and had theory classes half the day, and regular classes the other half. I also took lessons from Frank Huang, the current concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic. I received my BM from the University of Texas at Austin in 2017 where I studied with Sandy Yamamoto, and I received my MM from DePaul University in 2019 studying with Janet Sung. Read More

I have 17 years of teaching experience starting while I was still in graduate school. My main focus is having students practice regularly, like the piece they are playing, and gain a passion for their instrument. I always play with my students in order for them to gain experience in chamber music as well as to make sure they know their parts well. My students are always encouraged to audition for local youth orchestras, join chamber music groups, and are given opportunities to give recitals. Read More
